Pretty much the same for me, although I also like to try to produce something that will have the same effect on the viewer as the original had on me. Sometimes, a phrase in a book may make an impression on us, and we want to pass that on to someone else. Sometimes just quoting is enough; but mostly the only way to show why it impressed us is to add a little more in the way of explanation. I see photography the same way - a straight "quote" of nature (which I think is impossible anyway) usually fails to convey exactly what it meant to us. Hence, I usually arrange things to explain rather than to simply state.

That means that although I want my images to look natural, at the same time I don't feel in any way bound to be literal. Poetry often isn't literal either

I too feel the same way about photography, I was living in a very dark place for a long time and now I am out living on my own and finding peace in my photography. I look at it as art and what I see is art through the view finder

I think it was Ansel Adams who said: "You don't take a photograph, you make a photograph.

I take photography for the memories of places i have been and people i meet and aminal i see and little things i fin unquie. I am by far not the best photographer around but there is something about photography that has taken me.

It is probably one of the most in depth hobbies i have ever come across. I believe that in 20 years i will still be learning new things every day with photography and the digital darkroom to improve my technquie and skills.

And also it give me an excuse to orginise holidays to the beach and inland deserts of Australia with the family so that one i get to take photography in some of the most remote places of OZ and it combines my love for my family and sense of adventure and my love for 4x4ing.

So when i first pic up my first ever camera it clicked like it was ment to be. That is why i love Photography

I do it purely beacause i enjoy it. My friends think its a waste of money and boring, and think i'm not normal because i'd rather be out taking photos than going clubbing.

I see photos in magazines and online that look amazing and set targets to try and get photo's of the same quality (not yet managed lol) Personally i find it a great way to learn.

however my dream is to work with national geographic or wwf for the nature work they do... i doubt i'll ever get that chance.

I started to take photographs when my children were growing up and really enjoyed it. I have continued to take photographs even though the children are now full grown and have left home. Photography is an enjoyable hobby but it can also be frustrating especially when the shot you are hoping for doesn,t work because of the weather, light or your own stupidity. You never stop learning.

ive just started. me and my girlfriend booked a holiday to kenya and going on a safari, so i thought it would be a great excuse to buy a DSLR. ive always fancied buying one but never really got round to it.
bought a nikon D3100 with kit lens and just bought a 55-300mm nikon lens, quickly getting the bug for it! i just love going out with my camera on my own and just enjoy taking photos. i suppose its a new thing to learn and i could see my self getting really into and upgrading very soon!!

Hello all, a newbie here ...
Am a printing industry man, running own printing establishment; some 25 year experience in graphic screen printing and digital large format.
Interested in any form of art...
I thought Photography is a profession for Studios, Wedding, News photographers....

Lately found it is a great tool for art, especially landscape photography...

Fallen in love with the amazing world of photography, picked up a 5D2 just one year back, a crash-training course is going on.

Thanks to Internet, my Guru, who never demand fee, but provide latest information.

Nature is ever changing, landscapes esp. change color every season.
Capturing nature, though the photo is not technically perfect, is tremendously gratifying to me.

Just found DCW, very open, informative, friendly Forum.

How to convert photos into relishable canvas prints is my study.

Unless sharing, art has no value...
Thanks.
