I think that this site, and others, is a reflection of society. All sorts of people are in to photography, and all sorts of people some on this site.

Some will be friendly, some will be rude, some will be shy, some will be over confident and arrogant, so will be experts, so beginners.

So I suspect that this will be reflected in the day to day goings on on the forums.
I try to comment on threads and photos if I feel I have something to offer, but I'm certainly no expert so my offerings will generally be my opinion. However, I always try to be honest and deliver my comments in a friendly and constructive way.

As always, these are just my thoughts.

Thank you for the welcome, my post is raw in its response and how I felt at the time of writing the response so hopefully seen as constructive feedback by those that have an interest.

Looking round I have seen more positives already so my position has changed already for the better.

Look forward to sticking around and participating/contributing over time.

Nearly a 5000+ poster

Feel a bit intimidated with the quality of images posted v what I can currently turn out...

Took a picture, or two to see if I could come up with something reasonable this past weekend for the dinner/food theme. Didn't feel I got any worthy shots to enter from my limited skills and efforts...

I also lack any software for image processing, tidying so any images I would take would be straight from the camera, lots of the images seem to be enhanced and this is an area I wish to develop my knowledge on over time

May be soon though even for the feedback and advice on my photos

Thank you. I might repeat the process, but don't count on it.

I have the distinct impression that I start from a different point to most people, see things that don't matter to them, and regard the "cure" (if faults are seen) to lie mostly in what should have been done before the shutter was released, rather than what should be done afterwards to turn a pig's ear into a nylon purse.

I shouldn't really be here anyway - I suspect the entrance requirement is one I don't meet since the nearest thing to a digital camera I own is built into my phone (and I don't know how to work it anyway).
