As a new photographer I have not tried this subject yet. I have had a little play this evening and here are some of my attempts. They are not brilliant, but it was just to see what my camera and I can do, and about learning the settings that I can use.

Just thought I would share a couple with you, they are not my entries, as I have other ideas.

And a different take on the subject.........

Am I correct in thinking that painting with light is not just about drawing or writting with light, but can also be the lighting of an object (such as the photo of the Lego Man above), although I realise that there needs to be more creativity. ???

Yes, painting objects with light. Remember, they can be large exteriors too, with xenon torchlights, car headlamps, lighthouses... I believe there was an article on this site several weeks ago about painting with light, might be worth a look.

Not so much just lighting a subject with a static light. You open your shutter for a while and using 2 or more colours you highlight areas in different colour if you wish, you kind of use the light source and move it around to light the areas you wish.

Was supossed to be in bed an hour ago, but spent 2 and half hours trying to get something for this one. The concept seems straight forward, but the practice is not as good as it could be. I have plenty of ideas, but getting the lighting just as I wish is not working. I will keep trying, and if all else fails I have an image in reserve from tonights shoot.

How is everyone else doing?

Nothing yet. Need to pull my finger out (again). Got a few ideas but I need to turn them into reality.
