Stacking Photos

Managed to do some photo stacking on the camera the other night after a little bit of technical instruction. That appears to be the easy part. After uploading the images to the computer, it appears that elements 8 is not set up for stacking. Please can you advise me on how to do this on Elements, if possible or the software I need for this.

I know Photoshop CS has had focus stacking in recent versions, don't know if Elements has, but PSE8 is too old to have had it. You could try Helicon Focus or look at Wikipedia for other options.

Thanks Chris, thought as much. Looks like I'll have to go shopping or put the stacking on hold.

Found the software after a quick Google.
StarStaX. A free software, donations can be made via Paypal.
Great bit of kit.

Until Photoshop CS included photo stacking I always used CombineZM. It's free and very good.

Here's another freebee. DeepSkyStacker is a freeware for astrophotographers. Plus a tutorial.
