I think we're into the murky world of personal taste here , to be honest out of the two I prefer the original image because I find it more balanced .

I like this 1 dd it shows the north east in its glory days of industry with the pits and shipyards(the crane) which is all now gone, the silouette stands out well against the orangy sky is that st peters u can see between the wheel spokes i fancied doin a shot like this a while back for 1 of the weekend comps cos theres plenty of pits doon here in yorkieland aswell but never got round to it. Like mark says though i like the 1st 1 best aswell

PS HOW DO U SPELL SILLOUHETTE LOL

Nice shot DD as the others have said I prefer the 1st shot.

Tis a long time since I was down on Tyneside must have been in the late 60's early 70's as I was doing a job on a ship in Swan Hunters Yard

I prefer the normal version too. I find I'm drawn to the bottom right in the other version, partly due to natural scanning and partly because all those spokes take me there. Tricky to get out...

If you want to get the crane bigger relative to the wheel, move back and use a longer lens. Of course, the church then gets bigger and doesn't fit so neatly in the spokes.

Nice capture, anyway. Print it big & put it on a wall.
