Thanks for the comments. The vanishing point was some 3-4 meters away as they are long lengths of timber so no not close. Duly noted regarding the VP being to dark.

Well done Alex a truly 1st class photo that won me over instaintly.

Up - On track
I wasn't hot on the white vignetting, I didn't think it worked with the image. Maybe a boost in saturation and greens would have made it work. I also thought it may have not been vignetting as it wasn't a uniform shape.

Down - Into the distance
I see 6 vanishing points and although it should be an awkward composition it works well.

[QUOTE=JonnyM;81576]Well done Alex, looking forward to this weekend's theme.

Down: 'Georgian Water Garden' - Kerbside.

A typical vanishing point subject which is why it didn't get my vote I also think the pp detracts from the theme.

If it was "a typical vanishing point picture" then surely it was spot on brief? As for the PP I can accept your personal choice that's what photography is all about.

Yes, spot on brief but cliched. For me, these competitions, and comps in general, are a way of finding new ideas and trying to express them in a more interesting way, which admittedly isn't easy to do. What's also good about the competitions on this site is you get honest instant feedback which you generally don't get from more formal competitions. You begin to find out what the people who post on here like and dislike and use that to your advantage if you so wish in your submissions.

Agree in parts where you are coming from but you take a picture and process it to your own personal taste, or i do at least, if someone then likes what i did, great, if not, no big deal but i do it for ME not for what someone else may or may not like.
