I never know how much faith to have in the rumour mill but they got a lot right this year (the D3000, D5000, 70-200 f/2.8 II, D300s etc).
However, they also said there would be a D700x coming out this month or next and it's yet to emerge. But now the rumour sites say that we won't be getting a D700s or D700x but that Nikon will announce the D800. Don't know what the (theoretical) spec will be though.
In case you're interested the supposed line up for 2010 will be...
Nikon D4
15.7MP (more sensitive and with less noise)
Up to 16fps with “double exposure”
ISO 200-12800 (plus extended range)
61-point AF
1080p video at 30fps
CLS control (although no flash is mentioned)
Nikon D400
13.8MP (more sensitive and with less noise)
8fps
Up to 12fps with “double exposure”
ISO 200-6400 (plus extended range)
61-point AF
1080p video at 24fps
Nikon D4x
30.2MP
ISO 100 - 6400
6fps
1080p video at 30fps
Plus lenses for 2010
AF-S 14-28mm f/3.5-4.5 G ED
AF-S 120-450mm f/4.5-5.6 G ED VR
AF-S 300mm f/4 G VR
AF-S 400mm f/5.6 G VR
AF-S 70-240mm f/3.5-4.5 G VR
AF-S 105-mm f/2G DC
AF-S 24-85 mm f/4 G VR
AF-S DX 60-95mm f/2 G VR
AF-S DX 17-60mm f/2.8 G VR
The purported "big" development will be the new 61 point AF system which is alleged to be a "real step forward". What that really means is anyones guess.
However, if there is a D800 coming it might make the D700 a more financially viable prospect...
