Dear All
Four months in and I have to say I am disappointed.
My main reason for this is the very small amount of information regarding Capture NX2.
As I said at the start, there is very little tutorial available for this software and I was really hoping that a "purely" Nikon based magazine would redress the balance. So far - two pages per issue. Which wouldn't be too bad if there wasn't so many more pages on Adobe RAW, Adobe Photoshop, etc etc. I wouldn't care but the BEST RAW conversion program for Nikon NEF files is Capture NX2 so why are we suffering articles on Adobe RAW? I expected it in "Digital Camera" magazine who have been obsessive for many years on Adobe programs, but I thought this was a Nikon focused publication?
If I wanted to learn about Adobe Photoshop etc. every other camera magazine in the shop is crammed full with it, in fact I can buy several specialist publications that cover nothing else!
Is Capture NX2 so unloved? I love it anyway, I just wish I could learn more about its more hidden treasures.....
For a specialist Nikon mag I think the bar has been set a bit low, I realise that it must appeal to a wider audience but we've already made a decision to shoot Nikon haven't we so I guess we've got a vague idea about aperture, shutter haven't we? Whilst not wishing to make the mag elitist ( perish the thought in this day and age) perhaps it could lift it's sights a little bit..... possibly?
Finally, having shelled out my annual subscription up front, if I want to read the mag on my IPad I have to pay all over again????
This has to be one of the most cynical pieces of marketing I have come across.
I did make these points at Focus on Imaging NEC 2012 at the magazine stand but the ladies just smiled and looked at me as though I was a bit sad............
Maybe I am, Oh Dear
Best wishes
A disappointed subscriber......
