Please ignore my last post, I've sorted it. Thanks.

However, I still find it frustrating that a photography website has a limit on the size of photo you can upload, thereby meaning that lower resolution images have to be used.
Or am I missing something???

Glad your sorted .

I with you on this one , you just don't get the full effect of your work at such low res .

Just out of interest, what file & image size would you expect for displaying on the web?

Personally I don't think there should be a limit. I accept that there are teccy reasons for having a limit, but as a user of a product, (and in the ideal world) I don't think there should be a limit.

So, if someone uploads their pics at 6mb a piece, and then post a few of them in a forum post. Any idea how long it would take to load the page. On a slow connection, or dial up that would be a nightmare at best.

I'd say that part of learning how to use the equipment would include learning how to optimize images for web use. If that's what you want to do with them.

I don't know all the in's and out's about web sites or the pro's and con's of image size vs visible quality but the " stated " 2MB limit should be fine but when you restrict the image to a 900px max width you just can't see the detail of the image especially when in landscape layout , it's not to bad for a portrait layout so why can't they make the image limit a max 900px along it's shortest side ? .

I can understand the need for image size limits but the old site ran fine on a 5MB limit and I'm afraid if your still on a dial up connection your going to run into problems using the web full stop .

Lurkalot would you mind explaining what you mean by your last comment , I work at a slightly slower speed myself now days and that bit went over my head .

That's fair enough. I fully accept that. But like I said, in an IDEAL WORLD there would be no limit.
And yes, I've got loads to learn about images sizes/files/editing etc............
But I still think 1MB is on the verge of being laughable for a photography website.

Or am I still missing something??

Well the limit is supposed to be 2MB as far as I can tell, which is more than enough
tbh. http://www.digitalcameraworld.com/fo...#cat_undefined

They do need to set the thing up properly though, if this isn't the case..
