Will there be a POTY 2012?

Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me if there will be a potty 2012. Usually the competition starts in March every year. I haven't seen Andy news regarding à compétition this year.

Thanks

Jean Jacques

Oh no! A photography magazine without a photo contest is like a football ground with no football team (((

A real shame but can't say I am surprised. Things like this cost a lot of time and money to run and everyone, even big companies, are having to cut back. Plus, all the staff had for their efforts last year were people moaning about the entry fee.

Here is the irony. Since there was an entry fee the number of entries were down. Someone has probably said "Look, the number of entries is way down, let's cancel it".

I think the running of a competition like this probably costs a lot more than we all think and a fee was introduced to try and rescue the competition. Lets not forget that most credible competitions actually charge a lot more than £10 to enter.

Anyway, it is sad and a real shame because I know lots of people, me included used to love entering it.

Potty

Thanks for the replies. A real shame. It was a most expected annual competition. Hope the organizers will look into a solution for next year.

Real shame. Didn`t get it together for last year but would have had a go this time around. Guess it will have to be the PP one though first 2 round themes have gone.

Sounds good, I might have a look at that :-) Although I have no idea what I'd enter as I haven't done any photography for over 2mths since breaking my ankle. Hopefully now my cast is off I can get out a bit more.

Thanks for the link,

Karen
