Thanks Neil.

Well, not framing it, but will be keeping it very safe. Yes, it was an amazing feeling when the mag contacted me and said that they wanted to use one of my pics. I didn't realise at the time that they were going to print it over the two pages, I was thinking that I'd probably get maybe a quarter of a page or so and £20 or £30 but when I received my copy of the mag and saw it, well, my head swelled so much it was a miracle I could get out of the door. lol.

This was the first time that I tried submitting images for anything like that too so I was really chuffed.

I have now ordered a Lee Big Stopper with the promised funds so it didn't take long to spend. lol.

I have now sent them some more images so I suppose that the moral is to keep trying. Like you, I did not think that I was good enough but thought that if I did not try I would not get it published. So keep trying, you never know.

Good Luck.

Steve.

Neil, I think I know where your coming from. Can I suggest a book that's gold dust to me?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Freelance-Ph...3852168&sr=8-1

I got the book for Christmas, I had no idea where to start to get published.

I know that what I'm about to show you of mine was published before I got the book but the fees, email address and contact who got in touch with me was exactly as in the book.

General rule though is keep trying.

Good luck,
Noel

I've been published rather a lot.

It's easy providing you have shots that fit the mags requirements. If you don't, stay in touch and keep sending them updates of new work.

Get the direct email of editor or picture editor, if you can - get them on the phone for a chat.
Simply ask ''Could you find a home for my shots in any upcoming issues?''
Go directly to the mag.

I've been in PhotoPlus about 3 times, EOS Magazine twice, Advanced Photoshop 3 times, HJ - Hairdressers Journal, Salon Business Magazine front cover, Practical Photography several times, Digital Arts...and many more overseas.

All the above UK mags were a case of writing off, getting the editors on the phone and asking if they could give my babies a home
