Anyone heard of this company..

http://slrhut.co.uk/

SLR hut
Was thinking about buying a lens from them as it seems cheaper than most. Was wondering if anyone has heard of them or got anything from them - any problems

this looks like a USA based company the prices dont include VAT which is the way they price things there. also there are varying degrees of comments on the net so bare in mind people only complain when it goes wrong i would google the company and look at the reviews

Isn't that illegal when selling to the general public?

You will end up paying import duty on anything you purchase from them. Why not try Digital Rev or HDEW?

Hdew are based in the UK but sell imports, http://www.hdewcameras.co.uk/index.asp
There are no extras to pay. My husband bought a 7D from them last week for £835 and I have had lenses from them in the past.

Digital Rev are also good, their prices include VAT and import duty but arrive from Hong Kong, you get a warranty also. I am thinking of buying a 5dmk3 from them as its £500 cheaper than here. http://www.digitalrev.com/

In the EC, yes. In the USA and Canada, tax varies from state to state (or province to province) so it's added at the point of sale. Damn annoying when you buy something in a shop and the cashier tells you it's several dollars more than you were expecting. Most things are advertised as "$xxx (+ taxes)".

slrhut.co.uk : UK website, UK address, UK phone no., prices in Sterling, quoted without VAT. I wouldn't touch them.
