Question Epson original Ink vs Continues 3d party ink systems.

Hello
I would like to purchase A3 or A2 printer from Epson. Couple months ago there were great articles in your magazines about printing (October 2009). I saw tests and comparisons.
What I would like to know, if you could explain advantages and quality between Epson original inks and 3d party ink (continuos) products.
For example in your tests, where Epson R1900, is not a great in B&W. My friend installed continues Ink system from ilford.com, which is a professional company. and on his B&W prints after calibration there were not any problems with greens or magenta.
Is there a way, you could give me some advise, what are the advantages of those systems? How is the ink quality? And which ink systems are the best to purchase?
I know this will be difficult as many magazines will not publish any information like that as Epson is a big advertiser. But buying cartridges and polluting earth with them is not good ether.
Thank you in advance
Miroslav

The main advantage is that companies like Epson use such patheticly small cartridges, and also if a cartridge runs out halfway through a large print you lose everything (mostly because of their silly software)

A continous Ink system solves all these problems in an instant.

In my experience if you go for a quality CI system, such as Lyson, then when it works its absolutely fantastic. I think it should be how the factory build the printers, but they can be problamatic, and then they become a right nightmare in terms of spending a lot of time getting them sorted again before you can get great results once more.

However I'm told that the newer Epson models such as the R1900 and R2880 have much less problems with CIS as they have a much stronger pump for pulling the ink through.

INKJET resetter, circa £5. INKJET refills then keep srynge. DIGITAL PROMOTIONS for cartridges. To refill cartridge, push srynge through the hole in the top of cartridge. Rinse srynge out after every colour

Hi

Have a look at www.fotospeed.com. I have an R2400 and have been using fotospeeds continuous inkflow system on since it I have had it, works great. The initial cost is quite high, but if you intend to print loads then you will save money. If you also use their paper they will do your ICC profiling for free. They will also profile other paper at a cost. Then, if you have your monitor calibrated correctly, what you see on it will be the same as what your printer spits out! I can't fault the quality, colour is spot on and definition is excellent.
