Guess who's not going to be impressed with the lens test in issue 5, then?

This is why I do not understand the write up one sees of complaints of front or back focussing errors. I made up a simple checker and checked all of my lens. I did not find one faulty lens. The only fault one sees is build quality, such as stiff zooming etc.
I was just reading the March issue of PhotoPlus and they said it again about a Tamron lens. On the last test it was so-so but on this one much better for the same model of lens.

The only tests you can believe is PHOTOZONE They have no axe to grind. The mag says the TAMRON 17-50 is the poorest yet PHOTOZONE says The non vc version is great, it gets 5 stars for overall tests.

Nikon Rumors has this.

I'd guess list price about £800, but could be well out.

An 18-300mm would become the superzoon with the widest zoom ratio of any SLR lens ever. With a zoom ratio of 16.6, it would surpass the current record holder - the Tamron 18-270mm. If the rumour comes true, it would be a very exciting addition to the range. But undoubtedly not fast enough for my own camera bag

But don't forget one of the results was for rugby league, not football! Issue two was a group test of flashguns, not lenses.

Don't want to give the game away, but form is not always an indicator of future performance. There may be a shock result come issue 6!

Macro lenses are difficult to call. No point trying to find the sharpest, they're all right up there. It comes down to handling, preferred focal length, and other non-performance issues. At least the equivalent FL nonsense doesn't need to play a part in this test.

I wouldn't have guessed that one, though. I think I even missed it being released...

There are to many weirdo`s on these forums who send their new lens back to be recalibrated for front / back errors of a couple of centimeters. That can only show up using fully open apertures. They say " When I use macro part of the shot is out of focus. Do they not consider the DOF for a macro shot.
