41MP Camera phone..Death toll for Compacts?

Nokia are to release their latest smart phone, boasting a 41mp sensor. With the advances in smart phone technology and this latest news, will the smart phone put the boot into the Compact/Point and Shoot market and eventually make them obsolete?

I've just got a case for my iphone with two tripod bushes, one for portrait, one for landscape.

The prediction of point and shoots dying has been predicted before. I do think it will happen. The downside of this new phone is that it runs the Symbian OS that all other phones have moved away from.

I do think that phones will replace low end P&S' for most people. Right now my iPhone 4s has an 8 mp camera and does take a pretty good photo. All we need is some zoom and that is the end of low end P&S market.

The high end market will stay around.
