Little Egret

I took this image at the Salt Marsh Nature Reserve at Cley North Norfolk , it was the end of a very cold day and this Little Egret looked like he was heading off home like the rest of us .
The lighting was a bit tricky as the sun was low and quite strong but I wanted to capture the mood of the scene rather than just the bird , I hope I got the balance of soft subtle detail in the background against the contrast of the Little Egret right to give the impression of solitude as the bird heads out of shot .

Data

Nikon D90
Sigma 18-250 @ 250
Shutter priority @ 1/1000
f/13
ISO 200
- 2.7 exposure comp

Your thoughts and pointers would be gratefully received .

Mark

I like it - combines landscape and wildlife in one and well composed - but perhaps it falls between the two. I think you'd have to have a bigger bird image to do it justice.

If I was to tell you that I couldn't make up my mind which section to post it in , the landscape or wildlife threads I don't think you would be surprised would you and that's why I put it in here .

Thanks alot for taking the time to comment it's much appreciated and I see what you mean about the Egret needing to be bigger in the frame , he was quite a way off so I didn't want to crop in any further than I already have so either a longer lens is needed or I've got to learn to run faster .

Thanks again

Mark
