Thanks everyone , I guess its a case of the looks rather than anything else the mac has to offer.

Essentialy yes and of course whether you find it a more pleasant and intuitive experience to use.

I am also in the same situation. I am recently getting into photography and video editing. My school library has both Mac and PC, but I've been testing out both to see which one I should buy. Thanks for all the advice!

I love my mac. Its much better but I was using a netbook so that says nothing. However, my son is in the film/TV business and most large companies and colleges too, opt for the mac My son says because a Mac isn't a PC, it can't pick up viruses so is safter to use.

If you do do for a mac, get a mac monitor too, sadly I didn't (too many pennies) but they are amazing. Eve my photos look much better on a mac screen (when I'm at college).

Monitor mote, the Apple displays use what are called IPS panels. That is In-Plane switching and it allows for a wider viewing angle and better colour. Other manufacturers make IPS monitors that will work on a Mac (or PC), like my recently purchased Dell monitor.

Also its a fallacy to say that macs dont get viruses they do get viruses though they are not as susceptible as pc's due to the fact that the pc is more widely used and therefore a better target to distribute viruses

IPS means thedisplay looks more consistant when viewed from different angles, for example on my LCD when I stand up the colours seem lighter where as my second monitor which is IPS looks the same.
