CHAT: Abstracts, weekend competition for 2/17-2/19

Sorry Im late with my up's and down's..

Up's - Wavemachine's 'I'm On My Way' - an excellent take on the theme. The camera shake gave the artistic look to the image. Think the dog maybe needed to be closer and the coulours mage more pastel. Just my comments of course but overall a very good image.

Down's - Deena's 'Delicate Trim' - not sure what this was trying to say. I think it needed a little more of a story to it. Where did the trim come from? A dress, a special gown? A bridesmaid maybee? A love affair? Nevertheless, it was on original an unique approach so welldone.

My entry....clearly way too dark (in mood) for you guys..lol.A portrait of my favourite drinking goblet and at £75 per goblet, clearly you guys have no taste..lol. Made an attempt at a twist to the theme and I must admit, I LOVE it!!!! And isn't that what counts????

Loved the theme, great entries you guys. Well done all.

I voted for Lock and Load, I liked the light and shadows. I still do not know what it is.

UP - Street Art Very nice lines and reflective surfaces. I can tell it is a building and there is a slightly distracting street light in there. Still a great job though.

DOWN - Ecosystems Very cool idea. I think seeing the bottom of the glasses takes away.

Congratulations don! A beautiful abstract shot and it got my vote straight away.Loved the simplicity of the shot, the colour and the textures. Youve given me a few ideas for my next macro shots :-)

DigiDiva's 'Demonic' - great shot DD, I like the pp on this one - silver and black, think it works really well. I also like the composition. I was surprised that it didnt get any votes.

Down
Twinnie's 'Street Art' - good abstract shot, really like the idea of it. Lots of strong lines and reflections. If I had one crit it would be that I may have gone for a tighter crop. Other than that well done, good shot.


My shot was a close up of a wedding favor. I wasnt happy with the title but wasnt trying to tell a story, just trying to emphasize the dof and the contrasting colours. Thanks DD and Twinnie for your crits.

My other favourite was highlandscenic's 'Plasma 2' and Clickin Girl's 'alien universe'. Excellent ideas, excellent shots
