Gaaahhh, beat me to it Cathus.

When you camera is turned on and set to Auto exposure, when you press the shutter release button your camera will, in most cases, take a photograph.

THis is going well! But no one managed a sentence as long as my first one! And without any punctuation marks at that.

Here's my next one:

You can take perfectly acceptable, and even very good photographs with a bridge canera.

(I'm now waiting for the DSLR storm to be unleashed over my poor blonde head!)

A digital single-lens reflex camera (digital SLR or DSLR)
is a digital camera that uses a mechanical mirror system
and pentaprism to direct light from the lens to an optical
viewfinder on the back of the camera.

The good news with a Digital camera is that you don't need so much film.

Geoff, this is undoubtably true. But you need to be fair and admit that a non DSLR is much easier on memory cards, and is totally unaffected by transfer speed. Film cameras have also been found to be somewhat lacking in HD quality where video is concerned...

If you want to take a photograph, it helps to have a camera with you.

Taking photographs in a dark room may lead to unsatisfactory results.

Hear hear!

All a top range camera will do is give you the best chance of taking a good image by combination of top quality components. But the magic comes from the eye looking through the viewfinder.

Thank you Chris! And even a very partially sighted eye can sometimes see magic, and better still, capture it. It only takes (a lot) longer.

The DSLR storm has not meterialised, somehow.

But sometimes the pictures stored in your head, are the best ever!
