Help Please..utter frustration!

Not sure if its the default settings on my CS3, but when trying to do a montage, I'm having megga issues from the start. I have opened both a new (blank) layer (international paper size A4) then opened the image I want to use for the montage. I click on the image, select move, and drag the image to the blank layer. Sometimes (on good days) it works. Other times, the image springs back to where I dragged it from and I cant place it onto the blank layer. What am I doing wrong? Is it my settings? I'm fairly new to layers and becoming disheartened.

If it springs back then, you should get a error message? Instead of clicking on the image and selecting move, click on the move tool and use that.

Chris,

When you say you create a new blank layer do you mean that you creating a new blank file?

If so I think the best way to get the image that you want to use for the montage into to it is:

1) Create new file - size A4
2) Open image source file.
3) With Image file selected press Ctrl A (select all) and then Ctrl C (copy)
4) Go to the blank new file and press Ctrl V (paste)

This will then paste the source image to the blank file as a new layer. The image can then be moved or resized as required by using the control handles - you need to have show bounding box clicked to do this.

To paste more images to your montage just repeat the above.

I use a mac, think my cut and paste is different but thand, will try

I do select the move tool. It decided to work again late last night, who knows what will happen next time I boot up he mac!

Hi Chris,
I seem to recall I had this problem s few years ago. I couldn't swear to it, but I think that in those instances I had forgotten to 'Select' the image I wanted to move.
Just a thought.

Sorry I did not realise you are using a Mac.

As far as I know all you have to do is substitute Cmd for Ctrl i.e. Cmd-A, Cmd-C and Cmd-V
