maybe reading the actual request rather jumping to conclusions.

The E-5 is a serious DSLR above the budget he has set for a DSLR by another brand.

The V1 didnt seem that great from what I read abouit it.

I can only say go to a good shop and try different models to see which you like the handling of.
You may some of teh features of the Oly though as Nikon and Canon often lag behind on features like flip out screens by several years.

I've looked at this one a couple of times now and to be honest I'm not sure about the shadows falling on the car - I think they spoil the subject.

Also I think I would have cloned out the cars in the background. As you can't see all of them again they add nothing to the picture for me.

But that's just my opinion.

Ah, yeah, well, photojournalism standards in the US don't really allow for that. Perhaps in England that is acceptable, but in this country what you see is what you get. The code of ethics states: Editing should maintain the integrity of the photographic images' content and context. Do not manipulate images or add or alter sound in any way that can mislead viewers or misrepresent subjects.

My respoce

First of all I would like to say a 'big thankyou' to all the people who answered me.

I have taken 'on board' what has been suggested and am getting closer to a decision.

I actually DO like the micro43 cameras –*I bought one PEN sometime ago, but it's not the same as having a proper SLR and I always felt the viewfinder was to electronic for me. I like to see what I am seeing, not what the camera thinks!

I also don't like doing it from the Main screen, composing the picture I mean, often because I wear large glove and find they obsure the screen.

I have been offered an 2nd hand Nikon D300 and a 35-105 lens by a friend of a friend, and the asking price is about £800. I am told it is in good order and not stolen or imported. Does that sound reasonable?

By the way, I like the picture of the car and especially the 'tunnel' view of the dark edges. It is like looking 'through' something at the car.

Probably OK look HERE for second hand comparisons. How many times has the shutter been fired. Not really a landscape lens on a DX format APS C censor camera but it depends on what you want.

This seems OK depending condition and whether the lens suits you needs
The lens is no wide angle piecce of glass on a APS C sensor DX format camera.

The D300 looks OK at the price if in mint condition but depends on the lens and how it suits what you do. Thats not very wide on an APS C censor.
