It's a nice shot of a dragonfly very nice depth of field and nice clear background and good focus , it's a pity that the light is coming in from behind the dragonfly because it has thrown a lot of the detail into shadow but apart from that it's a nice shot taken at a great angle .

The second shot doesn't work as well for me because there's no real point of interest to catch my attention like a single dew drop in sharp focus and I don't think the shot shows off the shape of the plant to it's best either .

Mark

On the first pic I would have liked to have seen more DoF to pull more of the far wing into focus. I agree with Mark about the lighting angle. Try using your flash at times like this, it will do a number things: Pick out the detail in the line of sight, (probably) select a smaller aperture which will improve the DoF and give less exposure to the background causing it to go darker, making your subject stand out more.
The Monkey-Puzzle pic just isn't there. There is no particular point of focus or interest. For something like this you need to get further back and include it as part of a pattern with other objects, or really get in close and let the dew drops work for you. Again, this will give you two options; focus on the leaf with the drop in sharp focus, or focus on the scene encapsulated in the drop. It will be inverted, so be careful of what you include in this technique.

Agree with the previous comments, more dof with the dragonfly and the second image has nothing to focus the eye on,it all seems to blend into green.
