Frosted Gulls

Shot taken in that last brief burst of frost

Canon 7D, Sigma 500mm

Mark, the detail in this is lovely. The gulls don't feature as predominantly as they could but Im pleased. An unusual photo. Well done. Great D of F

Nice comp nice lighting nice DOF and nice lead in lines but once you get there the main focal point of the image is a little small and cramped , don't know if it looks better at full size because like most of the images on the site they are small files and you can't zoom in .

As always these are just my opinions .

Quick question is the Sigma a prime 500 or is it one of the telephotos , what ever it is it's very good quality .

The shot was slightly wider but I deliberately pushed the gulls into the corner - I'll give a wider look a try. In retrospect, I wish I'd gone for a little more DOF and gone around the corner - but as so often it was taken on the fly and anyway only had monopod support so I'd have had to up the ISO as well!

It's the 500mm f/4.5 - a lovely lens!
