Mushrooms taken on christmas eve

I took this shot of a clump of mushrooms I think they are velvet shanks. The wind was an issue as the tree (10" diamter) was moving a couple of inches each way when the wind gust

Cracking shot Alf of Velvet Shanks or Flammulina velutipes.

I found quite a few different Fungi fruiting this year, and have used flash to lighten them due to the cloudy conditions in November/December this year. I even photographed Slime mould but, even with flash, found it hard to capture all the details.

There are so many! I never seen anything like this around here! Its a nice shot and I bet it would work in black and white too.

Oldboy no flash on this as flat light can help capture detail but it may have helped deal with the sway of the tree as it required good timimg to keep it focus and avoid motion blur with a tripod.

Karen there are a number of musrooms that gow in clumps like this and they are common

I have had a go at B&W what do you think?

I prefer the full colour version. Cracking capture. Well done

I think I prefer the black and white conversion and would just use a little dodging and burning to finish it off. Just a bit of dodging on the underneath of the mushrooms to lighten them slightly and just burn in the top of the top mushroom slightly to just darken it. And just burn the lighter bark on the left hand side a little. Btw that is just what I would do, its all personal taste! :-)

Glad you like it I will think about more dodging and burning.

I like both, but I too am leaning toward the B&W. They seem to sort of glow! Nice capture!
