Good choice of camera and lens?

I've decided to buy a Nikon D90 body and Sigma 17-70mm lens for Christmas. I found two really good deals from 100% positive feedback sellers:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/...?pt=UK_Lens...item1c21855662
Overall it will cost around £580. Do you think this is a good deal or should I pick a newer camera body? An important thing to note is that the D90 has an in-built focus motor so that's why its perfect with the sigma lens, while with cameras such as the d5100/5000 etc. the lens will only work in manual focus. Tell me what you think and thanks a lot!

The 17-70mm will work on the d5100.

I've researched it and the d5100 does NOT have an internal focus motor so the lens will not be fully functional. Besides, the D5100 is much more expensive considering the difference between the two.

I own a D90 and find it to be a capable camera, is the 17-70 lens with OS if so I believe its a super lens, I wish you well with your new outfit.

Remember its not the camera that takes a great shot its the user.

You are right the d5100 does not have the focus motor. The 17-70mm has the hyper silent motor so it will focus on the d40/60/3000/3100/5100.
