Hope so as I was intending to pick up a copy on Saturday.

I think I'll wait until I've seen a couple of issues before deciding whether to subscribe or not.

Hi macs,
I got my magazine in the post yesterday, 22nd. I expect that's because I am a subscriber, and it is usually the case that mag subscribers(to whatever mag) get their copy before it goes on sale in the shops. I hope you get your copy tomorrow!

Browsed a copy of the first edition in Smiths this afternoon and decided not to buy.

To be honest with the quick browse I did I got the impression that a lot of the content is very generic - how to use a circular polariser and the bulb setting on your camera etc. Also from what I saw the tutorials still tended to concentrate on Photoshop CS/Elements.

So all in all not a great deal of new Nikon specific material and nothing that made me want to part with money for the magazine.

Bought the Sky at Night instead.

Hi guys and girls of the team

Got the first issue the other day on way back from York, a quick flick through and quite impressed. At further reading I found it very informative - liked the article on the expert apprentice with the D300s (suppose that's because I just upgraded to one) and the night photography section. However as some folks have stated I'm not sold on the focus into Photoshop editing for some tutorials, although very refreshing to see a mag focus on Nikon SLR's - god work

I guess the photoshop focus is because it's the default image manipulation package for the majority of people the world over. how many times have you seen co airbrushed poster and heard someone say 'she's been photoshoped' even though you know full well that person has never even seen a copy of photoshop?!

I do think it's a pity that it's so photoshop focussed because I cant afford a copy of cs5. i'm not sure what package they could use instead, anyone got any ideas?

I just think as others have stated, that the mag - all photography mags indeed - should focus on camera usage 99% - I personally am not a person who is into editing - I don't have photoshop, I actually use GIMP and UFRAW but the editing is not something i want to be reading about using to create something I couldn't do in my camera because they weren't showing me how, if you know what I mean

Yup!

Photoshop Elements 10. Cheap as chips and I have no idea why they sell it for that price in competition with the full-blown CS5 at mega-bucks.

Picked up the new mag in Asda yesterday - read through it and saw the website, thought Ahha - clicked on the forum link and got redirected to PhotoRadar....

THE WORST PHOTOGRAPHY FORUM IN THE WORLD EVER!!!!, the reason I left Digital Camera magazine in the first place.

The people on this forum are great - no question. But the level of support and interest from the administrators and owners is pathetic. I'm sorry, I don't normally rant but I was just so disappointed...

I think I'll be keeping my £5 and not subscribing..

Phil

Note for greenwing...

Actually - I didn't 'diss' the magazine - I dissed the fact that the new magazine, sporting a new website name (www.nphotomag.com) links back to an old and not very good forum that is woefully inadequate for a photography forum.

It's testiment indeed to this fact that I am able to reply to you (because I received notification via e-mail) before I can actually see your note to me in the forum itself!

I have noticed two things though -
1) there is a promise that this forum is going to be updated soon
2) Marcus is leaving....

Maybe I'll come back again in the near future and check it out again.
As I said, the people are great!

Phil
