Hi

I must admit I'm a bit surprised to click on the forum link on NPhoto Mag site and be brought here to register, I hope the NPhoto site will have it's own forum at some point, yes?

Glad to hear it - I'm sure they are in the progress of doing this

It has, it's called PhotoRadar Forum/Magazine Forums/N-Photo Magazine - and you are reading it!

Have you not noticed that this site covers three DSLR photography magazines published by Future? Why would they go to the bother of setting up another forum when they have this one.

Yes, of course I've noticed - it's bleeding obvious from one look - I just think that if they are bothering creating a website for the magazine the forum should be site centric to create the community for the site - It doesn't seem right having it link to another site and to register again - the community for the site is then off site. As I, and obviously a lot more people will discover, going to the forum after registering on the NPhoto site you would expect to be able to read and comment as you have already registered, but no, we have to register here now to use a forum that has a community that is NOT NPhoto at all.

I have to say that I do agree with you ianm79. It does not seem very professional, having to go to an external site for the forum.

Exactly. Why bother setting up another forum, and then turning it off to use this one. Especially as that new one worked properly, and had all the navigation functions working properly, and this forum which you are reading this post on has all those functions disabled.

Not only that, but you have to register on N-Photo just to post comments on articles etc, but if you want to post in the forums, then you'll have to register again on here.

Below is a couple of screen shots of what the N-Photo forum looked like, but unfortunately it doesn't look like that any more, they've been at it.

To be honest I haven't a clue how this will all end up, we'll just have to wait and see what they do . I have to say though, the lack of response from the staff regarding all these questions / comments, either in these threads or the staff boards, just leads me to wonder if they know what's going on too.

Sorry Lurkalot - what is it you require an answer to?

I've already said that the reason you're brought back to PhotoRadar from the N-Photo website is so that all the forums are kept together in one place - especially when the new site goes live.

The reason there was a forum in the first place was because you had to create one in order for people to be able to register just to leave comments.

What else is it you were looking for an answer to? I can pass on any questions that I don't know the answer to (of which I'm sure you will tell me there are a myriad ;-))

Amy

This is one forum.

Not true, they could have just used a decent CMS with no forum at all, and then bridged it with this forum to share the login. But as they already installed it and it worked better than this one, why not use it?

Not wishing to sound rude Amy, but did you read the thread from top to bottom, you'll see other members are also wondering what is going to happen.

Yes I have - and I've already discussed what will happen.

When the new Digital Camera World site is live, the N-Photo forum will link back to that forum, just as it links back to this forum now.

Unless perhaps I've missed something else you/someone else is asking?
