Seems I am indeed the winner this week. I'm glad I cropped my entry at the last minute, I think it improved it a lot.

I'm thrilled of course, but a pity the comp seems to be dying on its feet at the moment!

I'm just back from my 'rangering' and have to go out again soon, so I'll think about the next brief while out. Got a few ideas, don't know yet which one to go for.

Ups 'n downs.

Up: Jeff's Café Life. In spite of your own negative comments, I liked it a lot. It reminded me of the wintry days I used to go shopping with friends and always paused for coffee. It definitely had the 'feel good' factor for me, and it was my second choice.

Down: JerryWSL's 'Young Love.' Beautiful colours and great composition. I would have liked to be able to see it a bit better, but it was not clickable, so I did not really see the young lovers of the title. Pity.

I was torn between Jeff's entry and Mark's, but in the end the 'feel good factor' gave way to the sheer quality of the evening scene. So my vote went to Mark

It feels good to be able beat you, every now and again Mark! No hard feelings I hope?
Thank you it was just a cheeky entry that I took on my iPhone

Wel done on the win you deserve it!!

I liked it.

I am constantly surprised by the quality of the photos taken with modern mobiles!

I use my (pay as you go) mobile only for emergencies, and went out of my way to find one without a camera. Maybe I should reconsider, next time I need a new one.

Congratulations Reinardina! Very well executed photo. I liked your original entry too. This was in my top 3. I voted for Dave's 'Mr Wabbit' , just loved the idea. I bet Mr Wabbit had a startled expression on his face. It made me smile too.

Up
pea24's 'Light the blue touch-paper.....' : I loved the idea and the firework theme. I feel that the photo is dominated by the black on the RHS of the photo. I know this must have been a real tricky shot to capture but if the sparkler (i think that's what it is ) was more visible, ie the light covering more area, then I think it would have been a stronger shot.

Down
JerryWSL's 'Young Love': Lovely idea, but I thought the subjects were too small in the frame. I maybe would have concentrated on the tree OR used my zoom lens to get a closer shot of the couple

Other favourites were Cutter and TwinnieE.

Thank you 2Beers and Kezpock for your votes! And thank you to Cutter and wavemachine for your comments and pea24 for your nice critique.

I wont do an up and down as i thought they were all excellent and i found it very hard to choose but went with Evening Take-off which is one that i would happily hang on the wall in my man cave lol.

Thanks for the crit on mine btw, i can read a manual to learn what the camera does but, i need to learn what to do with it, so all crit either possitive or "constructive" more than welcome.

Thanks Deena. I know my shot wasn't the best but I was enjoying night round at a friends with fireworks and a good few beers (good combination) and decided to try and capture this. Only had one chance since it was the last firework :-) and his lighter was just a smouldering stick from the firework box. I was pleased with the light flare and the hand but I agree that i needed more.

I was thinking of going to the Ottery Tar Barrel night but didn't manage it. Here's a shot from a few years ago on a 50mm lens - it was hot!

Pea - if that was your only chance, then I take my hat off to you I would have probably got a big black splodge. And would have had to try again and again...

The photo above is 'inferno' hot. Looks like something from outer space!
