Lightroom and Photoshop sequence?

Got my LR3 today and now starts the long process of learning the ins and outs.
It seems that LR3 can do most things to an image however i notice on reading through this forum that alot of people when finished editing in LR they then export it to Photoshop....why ?
I have CS3 as well so what advantage does moving it into CS3 do for me ?

I also notice that some even start in Ps and finish in LR....now i'm totally confused

In most cases you do not need to export to PS from LR. I hardly do since switching.

PS has a greater toolset than LR, but LR is often quicker at most general tasks. LR also doesn't handle layers (though there is a plugin that has some layer functionality).

I perform most of my light adjustments in LR, then switch to PS to make any heavy tweaks and to add a frame etc, then back to LR to export.

Hi Matt,
What "heavy tweeks" for example?
And why send back to LR for export? Why not straight from PS when you are done?

Any cloning other than dust spots, finer levels / curves adjustments, selective colour correction.. All kinds really. LR is great for doing the basic stuff really quickly, but if I've got an image that needs a for bit of work, it needs some PS love

I export from LR because it exports to Flickr and other sites I post to

Thanx so much for replying Matt......... its funny how one has it in the back of the head that would be the case however it helps to confirm from people with more experience.
