A very nice, tranquil shot. Love the colours and the feeling of peace.

Nice shot - great composition. Though I'm not an advocate of exposing every element of a shot equally, I do think the foreground hovers between 'enough detail to demonstrate you want to show detail' versus 'not enough detail to make the detail out' - if that makes any sense! I'd suggest swinging it one way or the other.

very nice shot, nice comp, detail and colour
i now what you mean matt, its hard ot get it eactly right, especially when backlit and you want to keep that detail, i guess its wheater you like using photosop to bring the elements out or not some times,

I have to agree with Matt and Dan on this shot Mike .

It's a beautiful location and a great shot but it looks like it could be so much more ( I wont say better because that is subjective and this might be how Mike wants his shot )
I had a little play with it myself and there is so much interesting detail in the texture of the foreground rocks that it almost seems a shame not to show them off to their full , also a bit of a grad on the sky really brings out the colours and the texture in the clouds .

Hope you don't mind me messing with your image .

here is the one with the more exposed rock with a little bit of foreground. My intent on the first photo was to add more drama by making the iconic rock more under exposed.

It's great to see the two different approaches to the same shot , but you now have me questioning myself on which one I prefer .
The second one shows a lot more foreground interest but I tend to stop at the rock .
The first one may not have the detail in the foreground but my eye is drawn deeper into the image as a result .

Come on Mike do me a third to combine the best bits from both images

Crop the bottom off the second shot and make it half-and-half, and it's a winner. Nice one
