+1 for the Sigma 17-70 - it's a fantastic walkabout

Thanks guys. funnily enough i spokr to London Camera Exchange yesterday and they also reccomended the Sigma 17-70mm. Think thant sounds like my best option. I'll leave the 70-200mm for a while and play with the 1 lens and maybe borrow a few longer lenses if i can to see what i like.

On the UV filter I was quoted £70 for a 82mm Hoya Pro1 digital UV filter (to fit the sigma 24-70 I was looking at). The prices on Amazon are MUCH better. Thanks again,

Right now to find the best deal on that combo. wish me luck and I'll get back with some results once I've got my self sorted.

Just placed the order for the 60d and the Sigma 17-70mm lens. It'll be with me on Friday

Anybody got any advice on LCD protectors ? Are the GGS glass ones on amazon any good or should I jsut go for the stick on plastic type?

Thanks

Happy days

With regards to the screen protectors the GGS glass ones see below:-

That was on the back of my 7D when I dropped the camera and caught it by the strap mid air, the camera then swung and impacted screen first with a drawer knob.

The GGS absorbed the impact and the camera screen was undamaged, this was a stick on screen which can be tricky to align and remove though but I believe you can get some which clip over the view finder now.

If you just want to protect your screen from smears and scratches then the thin plastic ones are fine but for more serious impacts the GGS glass does a good job although it does make the screen slightly darker.

More questions ....

What are people thoughts on the best holster/toploader type case just to fit the 60D and 17-70 lens?

Great work, glad you're pleased.

As for cases / bags, I use the Lowepro Slingshot.
