What monitor to buy for PS Editing?

Hi All

I'm looking to buy a LCD monitor for my photo editing.

I already have a great Dell PC with lots of space for all those RAW files.

My budget is up to £200.

I'm told i should be going for 24 inches & Full HD (1920 * 1080).

Does anyone recomend a LCD monitor for me please?

Have a look on Ebuyer.com. They are usually by far the cheapest and they have a very wide selection of monitors for under £200, up to 24".

Personally, I'd look at the Dell, Samsung and Iiyama offerings and compare the differences between them. They may only be slight, in things like response time etc, but you might as well get the best that you can afford.

You might also want to check which ones have standard VESA back plates so that they are wall mountable. I have a Samsung Syncmaster T240. I got it as Ebuyer had an offer on, making it about £150 cheaper than anywhere else at the time. Great monitor, only problem with it is that I couldn't wall mount it (as a later discovered when I bought a wall mount and couldn't fit it lol), which I found to be a pain, if you have limited desk space.

Agree with amk1977 about Samsung monitors, as I've got two and never had a problem with either and images look stunning.

It might also be worth looking elsewhere at the Eizo Flexscan range too, which are in the £260 region. Eizo make some of the very best monitors around in the form of the Eizo Colouredge models. Those are a bit above your budget (and mine for that matter lol) at £1k a pop and are aimed at professionals in the graphic design/printing industry, due to their accuracy in colour rendition and gamut.

I should imagine though, that you'll be satisfied with which ever manufacturer/model you pick. Just to throw more choices into the mix, my brother has a 27.5" Hanns-G monitor which I have to say, I was extremely impressed with.

£218, 1900x1200 resolution and 3.5" bigger than my Samsung monitor! I might invest in one, when funds are a bit more available lol.

I endorse Oldboy's recommendation. I bought a 23" Samsung about a year ago and have nothing but praise for it. However, I also recommend a calibration device if you want your prints to look like the images on your monitor.

I bought that BenQ for someone who uses PS and have to say it's not too bad but I'm very happy with my Dell 2408WFP

Best general tip I can go for is to ignore the speed of the panel and the size but concentrate on the colour rendition (always a difficult one with reviews but easily the only important thing with PS!)

I have the same problem. I'm looking for something suitable for Photoshop/Printing photos but it has to be a full HD and preferably with an HDMI input as well.
Currently looking at these but would appreciate any offers under £230 mark:
- Samsung S23A350H
- SAMSUNG SyncMaster F2380M
- ViewSonic VP2365wb < my favourite I think
- BenQ G2222HDL

Any advice would be greatly appreciate!

Sorry to jump on your thread but I need to replace my monitor after my Samsung packed up on me , and would like to ask about the pros and cons of LCD vs LED for image editing any advice gratefully received .
