Help with wide angle lens with out of focus photos

If you want to check the focus, take a picture of a single object up close. Just because it's a wide angle lens doesn't mean you need to test it on landscape shots...

Or do the classic tape up a newspaper to the wall in good light with a tripod. Or tape the newspaper down to a table and take a photo on an angle to it to test DOF, again with a tripod and good light.

Test 1 - shutter too slow unless tripoded
Test 2 - "I'm not sure what it focused on" - AF can be a bit vague at times, especially in low contrasts, so you always need to keep an eye on what it is - with it being a WA, it's difficult to focus by eye (I use MF and the scale to set focus)

It's difficult to be objective about the test shots because you haven't chosen a particularly contrasty subject. With landscapes it's impossible to tell whether it's a shaky camera, poor focus or a very hazy day.
I repeat my (and others) advice - Put it on a tripod and take a shot of a newspaper at close range or something similar where we can really see how the lens is performing. It also gives the AF a chance to find itself.
Frankly, I wouldn't send it to Sigma on the basis of what you've got here.

Agree with Jet Kit, as both look like heat haze or pollution. At F22 most lenses won't be sharp but at F10 it should be OK. The best time to get landscapes shots is just after rain, as it cleans the air.

Reading your initial thread,you do not give much info. You say "in the evening" so I am assuming you where indoors. Being a super wide angle things looked far away so you enlarged the shot on your PC, now the shot will not look sharp.Your last thread you are asking the impossible. If it was possible we would all have 10-20 F1.4 lens.
