I think you've probably picked up on peoples thoughts now.

Don't sell your gear!!! Why should you? I suspect in time you'll be glad if you keep it.

All the best with sorting out your personal circumstances.

Also I was thinking about this all day and it's really bugging me!! I can't remember who but there is a female photographer who was just a normal person and was ok at photos but she threw herself into it because she was stone broke and about to lose her house because her hubby cheated on her. she started photographing babies-she had no option or she would have lost everything and she is now a realy good photographer and has her own business and is doing really well-she didn't sell her kit because it can make money-take a leaf from her book-if i can find her site i'll post it on here......

selling your gear could be worse than loosin your lass think about it logically you can always get another lass probably in no time at all but how long before you can afford all your gear again this might sound harsh but i had to sell all my fishing gear when i left the north east for next to nowt nd it took me years to get it all back again i was lost without it, but found the right lass nd she helped get it back again

Has she got Life Insurance? Would you be in line to be compensated should she mysteriously disappear?

Revenge, keeping photography equipment, money in your pocket: its a win - win situation!

Seriously though, I'm sorry to hear you're going through this and I hope you find a solution soon.

Have you any other hobbies which you'd be willing to sacrifice in the interim which would give you a financial boost? Have you got a car that you could 'downgrade' temporarily?
