Question Any thoughts on Zigview?

I have a D80 and am considering buying a zigview www.zigview.co.uk - as I can't see well enough through viewfinder without my glasses and find I'm often not tall enough when I have the camera on tripod.
Any thoughts or experience of this would be appreciated.
thanks in anticipation.
Susan

You can have the tripod a little lower if you want to !

As the Nikon D80 doesn't have live view you might consider it more cost effective to sell it on ebay and buy a D90 rather than buying a Zigview at £300 which is an astonishing amount to pay for something which comes as standard on most cameras now.

The other downside of the zigview is it tend to lose it's value very quickly because of the reasons above, no one really needs one or can justify the huge expense any more.

Live view has another advantage over the zig view, and that is it flips the mirror up so it's a cheat on mirror lock up while still being able to compose the shot.

Quick check on Ebay shows body only D80 fetching over £300, the D90 costs £640 from WEX I know what I'd be doing! (Alternatively you could switch to any of the Canon models which have had live view for ages!)

I agree, the D90 would be a better bet, but.... it would still be a considerable outlay - I hoped I might get the zigview 2nd hand.
as for Canon ..... yes I know - but I have got to know my Nikon.
what I really ****now to know is - does the zigview really work?

I've used a ZigView and they work very well. We've had one attached to an EOS 5D which is, in turn, attached to an inverted microscope.

They do work, and indoors they certainly seem effective but I don't know what the screen would be like outside and with sunshine on. They are also very expensive.

Have you considered a cheap angle finder for around £20?

Thanks Chris
I have looked at the DR6 right angle viewer - not seen the cheaper version yet. however it wouldn't overcome the problems with my eyesight - I can see through viewfinder if diopter is set properly, without my glasses, but if I want to adjust settings need to put my glasses back on. I can't have contact lenses so I am stuck with specs.
