Its the norm. And its a good thing, and I'm not saying that from a professional wedding photographers view but from the view of the couple the vicar / priest and the fact that it is a legal / religious ceremony.

As a pro photographer you learn in weddings to be descreet, turn the flash off if required, and turn the camera to silent and just take photos when necessary.

What you don't want is dozens of guests taking photos flashing and bleeping away, becuase it is just so easy with modern cameras / phones.

Its actually really annoying and distracting.

I suppose it's down to the individual priest/vicar and how they feel about guests taking photos during the ceramony as it would be very distracting for them also and not only the wedding couple. I was at a wedding on Saturday just past and the guests were all taking photos the whole way through the ceramony. I don't know how the priest and the bride and groom were able to focus on what was going on, because I had a hard time doing it!!!!!!!!! The poor photographer was running about like a blue *** baboon trying to get the best vantage point and I'm sure it was distracting for him!!!!!!!!!! I really felt sorry for him when he returned to the reception with the bride and groom as he was covered from head to toe in muck... They were out in the rain (not very well prepared I might add, no umbrellas!!!!!!!!!) on a grass bank and he was that busy getting the shot, he went too close to the edge and fell the whole way to the bottom.....

There's that strangely sterile , forced , staged , impersonal view again , where's the fun , the celebration , the coming together of family and friends .
Most just be me then , that is so sad .

Did anyone get a shot of that because that would have made a great picture for them.
