QUestions about school portraits

I am working on getting into school and do school portraits, my problem is how can I know which child is which. I don't want to end up printing Juan but it was supposed to be Peter. how do you do it? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Write on a piece of paper who the child is and what shot number in the camera?

As Matt suggests, you need a paper trail linked to the digital information held by your camera.

Alternatively, write their names on their foreheads.

If you have a smart phone, then you can use that to record their names plus image number.
If you link a laptop to your camera and use that to control the shot, then you can add their name to exif data or use the file header. You could even delete the folders, on the camera, and start from one again.This means you could pre-produce a spread sheet, starting at one, and put their names on it and call each in turn.

How about a whiteboard just get them to put name on it for the first shot !!
or
mugshot prop board
or
clapper board
