Subliminal marketing or good old fashioned c*ck up

I've just been flicking through the October edition of Digital Camera. In it there is a review of six DSLRs two from Canon, two from Nikon, a Pentax and Sony.

I won't spoil the read for anyone but in third place is a Nikon D7000. The strange thing is that the camera pictured has a Canon logo and pentaprism housing, but the body is a Nikon D7000. How on earth could that happen?

It's probably the only way to get some of the DC Mag staff to pick a Nikon up...

DC mag is all over Canon like no other mag. They even bothered to make a magazine dedicated to Canon. You look on dxomark and Canon 550d and 600d are nowhere in the top ranking sensor comparisions top is the Pentax 5k, Nikon d7000,d5100 and sony a580 which all share the same amazing sensor developed by Sony. They probably put d7000 in third because it does not have a adjustable rear screen! Its bonkers!

Just picked up my copy of the October issue. You're right! You can even see where 'Canon' has been rather amateurishly pasted over the Nikon nameplate. Someone at DC is taking the P**s

Very good spot. I just bought my copy. Maybe DCM did it on purpose to make everyone go out and buy the magazine to see what we are talking about?

The white running track line underneath the two lenses for the D300 and D7000 appears to be exactly the same as well (my page now looks like the front of a MAD magazine).

Bought mine in Sainsburys on Sunday. Was that early?

Definitely isn't a ploy by DC staff to get everyone to buy the mag (I don't work for them and subscribe to another mag, aimed at photographers who are amateurs).
