Active D Light on or off?

I've been looking at example images with nikons active d light function it looks like it does a good job. Is this a gimmick or do you all have this on all the time.

I never use it. You can add it later in View NX if you so wish and can then turn it off again if you don't like the effect.

I'm the same as steve , use NX or camera raw or shadow/highlights in photoshop .

If you shoot in raw would it make any difference if it was on or off ? .

But if you do shoot in JPEG it doe's work well if not a bit subtle .
