Vendome Abbey - straight up

Afternoon all

Here's another of my subtle blends that I'm working. It's still a work in progress this one and needs to be tidied up a little.

Same Q's as the last time.

Overprocessed?
About right?
Anything distracting?

I do love doing these roof shots and when I found this abbey, I fell in love with it. It's been described to me as the most beautiful Gothic abbey in all of France!

Hi Jools,

There's a nice symetry about this shot and the exposure looks well balanced, especially when I viewed the slightly larger version in your gallery. There are some very powerful shapes within the structure of the building and my only suggestion to possibly enhance it further would be to define those shapes a little more strongly. I feel they need to display a bit more dynamism, to give the image a greater impact and give it a 'Wow' factor. Otherwise, I think it's a great composition.

Nice photo, but it makes me feel a bit dixzzy. I guess it's the perspective of the photo.

It really does make your head spin , great architecture and yes the blending looks spot on .

I think that I might try a more symmetrical crop and may be cut the bit of window on the far right or leave it in and spin it 90 degrees one way or the other , what do you think .

I think I am on the same wavelength as you Mark. That end window on the right doesn't fit with the rest if it. It did bother me when I was doing the blending.

Does it make people's heads spin? Well, I do try and show the perspective as if you were there looking up. It doesn't half do your neck in doing these shots as you are quite an odd angle having to focus etc.

Still, that's all part of the fun

Hi Jools,

It's a great shot, and you've definitely aced the exposure. But on my monitor it looks a little muted - perhaps a subtle tweak of the levels and contrast will give it a bit more oomph. Or maybe my monitor just needs calibrating!

I also think it would work better in portrait rather than landscape format, with or without that window on the right. If you do decide to keep it in landscape, that window must go - it's very distracting.
