A very nice shot of your little one, Matthew.

I like the lighting as it appears natural and diffused, so you don't have any hard shadows on the face. The background is perhaps a little distracting, with the striped cushion on the left and the blue to the right. Obviously, if this was just a spur of the moment shot, you don't have time to go rearranging all the furniture lol.

I know from personal experience, when photographing my nephews, who rarely pose for a shot, that you just have to make do with what you've got and make the best of it. On the odd occasion that they do, I try not to fall into the trap of concentrating solely on the subject and pay attention to their surroundings too, getting them against a backdrop that is either neutral or at least adds to the shot if at all possible.

I'd perhaps try and bring a fraction more exposure into the eyes, particularly the right one, to balance it with the left, as I suspect the hair is casting a slight shadow over the iris.

really good shot, lovely depth of field, nice & sharp where it needs to be, nice natural pose with no forced smiles.

blue bit at the top a little too prominent for me.

Really beautiful natural shot. Love the lighting on this one. With a few adjustments (as previously stated above) I think you have a wonderful portrait.
