Misty Sunset

Here is a photo I took a few weeks back. I didnt use any kind of filter but I was wondering what I could do next time to improve a shot like this. Any comments really appreciated. Thanks.



Edit: The foreground is much darker when I upload onto my gallery. When viewing the photo in LR or PS, I can see detail in the foreground. Does anybody know why this happens?

Its a great shot with real calming feel to it.
I don't know much about Lightroom or photoshop so can't help there, but I would like to see the photo without the trees in the foreground. For me, they detract slightly from the overall feel of the shot. But thats just me.
Great work though, well done.

Probably need your screen calibrating Deena, try this one http://displaycalibration.com/ ,not as good as a machine but should help. BTW it is dark on my monitor and thats calibrated.

Thanks for your comments Jediboy. I was standing on the edge of a cliff at the time and I just couldnt get any higher (didnt have my step ladders ). I would have preferred to get the shot without the bushes but just couldnt. I dont think a crop would work here.

Thanks littlebro. I am looking into buying a proper calibration device. But when I look at the image on MY monitor in LR or PS, the exposure is lighter and I can see detail in the foreground. Maybe this is a problem when uploading onto this site?? I dont know. Has anybody else experienced the same problem? (I will try that link first, thanks)

I calibrated my monitor using the above link (thanks littlebro ). And I found another photo, less foreground trees/bushes. I've been tweaking this shot for ages, slight adjustments to contrast/fill light/shadows etc and it's now officially driving me mad How does this look?

I think you're right deena, a crop would not have worked. The second image you've posted looks better (on my screen) and some of the trees in the foreground have gone. They don't dominate the foreground. Is this shot from a slighlty different angle?? I prefer the overall look of it.

Yes. I remember being able to slightly walk back up the hill and lose some of the foreground bushes, (not completely though ) It now looks similar to when I view the shot on PS, so at least I wont be posting dark images anymore!

Does anybody have any other comments ? Is the composition ok? Is it too bad to comment on
