Matt, TBH deleting spam in the article comments takes a minute. It's the debates in the forums that take longer to 'police'.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding then? If that's the case, why was CAPTCHA enabled recently? And considering the forum mods such as Don, Lurkalot and Chris can't moderate the spam out of article comments, who is able to do that?

I'm not too sure why, but I don't see any spam at all in or on this forum.

And so are the members who report the spam when they see it. That makes the forum much easier to moderate. So thanks to them.

I remove the article spam. Once it's reported, or I notice it in the comments listing, it takes less than a minute to remove (I can select multiple comments to delete). 99% of the time, it's a stream of identical spam from the same source posted at the same time across a variety of articles. It's very easy to identify and remove, but we enable Captcha as an aid to reducing it in the first place.

The forum mods, who do a great job, have a much harder task.

Our job is made easier when someone reports spam. The hard part is when things get out of control with an argument.

Additionally -

Please don't quote spam messages (especially if including their links) as this means we have to moderate additional posts, which we can't do at the same time without also banning respondents.

Thank you
