A Light In The Darkness?

A composite of 4 images combined in Photoshop, including a natural light portrait, still life and a self portrait.

That's an incredible image. ONLY thing I would change is the lamp is too near the boy.

I don't think I have ever spent so long looking at one photo before . The detail in the face is amazing , but it's the eyes that really got me please let me know if you did any kind of photoshop on them or if they are totally natural . A real captivating photo love it .

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Mark, the only thing I have done to the eyes is just some standard sharpening that all RAW files require. Apart from that, there have been no other alterations like enlarging or extending of lashes etc. Its just my nephews natural features. If you look through my gallery you can see how long his lashes are. He's a very pretty little boy and has the most gentle nature.

The portrait part was shot on an old manual focus Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 Ai-s, which has some well deserved folklore surrounding it. If memory serves it was also shot at its widest aperture. It was part of a series of test shots, trying out the lens when I first got it. Its a razor sharp lens but, its main appeal for me is the close focusing of 20cm, allowing for some really interesting perspectives.

The hand belongs to another nephew of mine, who wanted to be in the picture lol. The lamp was shot on the 28mm although it was later blurred in photoshop. The figure is a self portrait. Its simply me in a doorway, with a bed sheet stuck behind me, back lit by about 4 desk lamps that I robbed from around the house lol. The lamp was shot in complete darkness, using an LED torch to illuminate the areas I wanted. I dread to think how many hours of work I put into the image. It literally runs into days!

Those eyes are amazing they say so much for such a young chap , from my point of view the long hours that you have put in have really been worth it .
