American Football

A shot from Sunday's Sussex Thunder game. Where the game is one and lost.

Hi Tony . It's a nice sharp action packed shot but I do feel that the crop is just to close .

Hi Mark. It is a bit tight but that's how I framed it in camera (shouldn't have zoomed in quite so far), although I suppose it could be said to convey a bit of the claustrophobic nature of 'The Pit'.

Hi Tony, I love photographing this game, and for most of the time I prefer to use the longest lens that I can and to crop even tighter. What I want are the faces, the colours, the tension and effort, and finally but not necessarily the ball. I'd propose an alternative crop. Crop to the linemen only, and chop them off above the knees making the pattern of the linked arms and the shirts the main feature of the picture. Just an idea!

Hi Dave, Here's an alternative crop along those lines.

I do find it fun to shoot these games but it also gets the wthdrawal symptoms going as I want to be on the other side of the white lines again but after 12 seasons in the pit my knees won't let me any more.

Final game of the season today, time to consider a calender maybe, any way I quite like these shots,
the comedy element

and an unusual view
