Camera Timer

Hi - I have a Canon EOS 450D and would like to be able to set up shots with me in the picture (I need to move 50m down a riverbank) but 10 seconds isn't long enough. Is there a way of extending the timer delay beyond 10 seconds?

Why not try a wireless remote trigger. A lot of them have that sort of range.

Indeed - I'd recommend the Hama wireless remote - it's got a range of around 100m, and will allow you to get in place and discretely snap away at yourself in a variety of poses

you could get an electronic shutter release which has a timer function built in, can't remember what they call them off the top of my head but I have one, you can programme in how many shots you want the camera to take, & what interval then you leave the camera to get on with it.

Useful for time lapse photography. I got mine from ebay, can't remember how much I paid but I think it was around £25-£40 ish.

Pocket Wizard would do the trick, range up to 100m or for less money (around £90 I think) you could get the calumet version of a pocket Wizard, they usually have full page ads for them in most photographic magazines.

As Matt said the Hama remote trigger is very good I used to have one of them until the transmitter disappeared from my camera bag (Daughter is prime suspect).

I also have the 7D version of this which is really good, it will do what you want to do plus a lot more (I think it was the device Cathus was referring to).

You could get into training..... Usain Bolt does 100m in less than the 10 seconds shutter delay you have, so 50m shouldn't be that difficult.
