I'm a fan of using wide angle lenses for close portraiture, as you can get some really interesting perspectives. I think its a nice, fun shot of your little one and I don't think that it matters that there is some motion blur on his hand.
Checking the histogram in photoshop, it looks like you don't have the full tonal range of blacks to whites. A quick levels adjustment will correct this and maybe just a small tweak in curves for the contrast to give it a little more punch. Other than that, I think its a good shot.
