Thanks for the feedback, I went back through my images taken at the time and found a different shot of the same area, but I'm looking at this more closely now, don't think I can make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
The following shot I think encompasses some of the review comments.
First shot was with Canon 15-85mm @ 85mm, 1/200, F9.0 but was cropped wide.
This shot was taken with Sigma 7-300mm @ 190mm F6.3, 1/320
Both were shot ~11 am, I think this did not help the clarity and contrast, it was a warm humid day, should have gone back later in the day with the sun on the limestone rocks would have brought out the deep oranges and ochre colours.
I still had some more focal length left so yes I could have looked at zooming in a little closer on the second shot.
Thanks again for the input, I'll try and put it to use over the next couple of weeks.
