DPP software updates

Friend bought a G11 today & wanted to review the images on my PC, I've currently got version 3.6.0.0 so off to Canon USA & UK I go to download the latest version. I'm asked a series of questions about which product I have and which OS and it comes up with version 3.6.0.2 which has some more lenses listed, but no mention of RAW support for the G11. So I ask for the CD and load that which turns out to be 3.7.0.3

The question I have to ask is why is Canon running several different variations of DPP on its website? I know that there are no extra relevant updates for my particular camera, but that's not what's important for me, I need it to be able to open all the relevant RAW files not just one cameras.
