Riding on Lake Rosseau

This is my wife and daughters from last weekend. They are being pulled behind the boat and having lots of fun. The girls turn 5 in a little over a week.

Looks like a fun day!

Good focus and dof for a relatively wide aperture and long focal length from the back of a speeding boat.
(Exif info gives 1/640sec at f5.6, and f/length of 171mm).
An image stabilised lens makes such a difference with shots like these, and you don't have to spend a fortune to get great results as Don has here.
Now let's see the boat Don.

I did have to straighten the horizon on this, the boat was not level at the time either I use the camera for two things when they are doing this: to take photos and to read signals if we need to slow down or speed up the boat I set the camera on continuous shooting mode to try to get good shots. I liked this one because they were all smiling.

Here is what I have of the boat, but it was going into dock so no speed action shots. It is a 19 foot boat with a V6 Volvo Penta motor. It does ok for speed. There are guys on the lake with faster and noisier. One guy nearby has dual outboard motors on his, but I am not sure the size as it is always moving too fast to read

Looks like Summer in Canada takes some beating. When do the mosquitos start to become a nuisance, or is that further North?

It has been hot recently. We had a wet spring and that usually means bad mosquitoes but they have not been bad this year. Normally they are not much of a menace by mid July.

The lake is about a 3 hour drive north of Toronto.
